well, the cats out of the bag. a few weeks ago my coauthor announced to the Palladium Books fandom at large that i was working on writing the worldbook for RIFTS:Scandinavia (or whatever they end up calling it). i had been trying to keep things somewhat low-key on their message boards, mainly to avoid getting expectations up. I'm writing this on Speculation, and while i beleive it will be accepted and printed because of my new and interesting ideas for the book, there is still a chance the company will think otherwise, and not accept it. plus there s the chance they will love the ideas, but choose to rewrite parts of it they don't like. so i wanted ot avoid getting hopes up. oddly enough, despite my posting images here that were developed as part of the early days of the project, no one seemed to be able to figure out exactly what the "big project" i was working on was.

'The plan' is to get the book completed by next year, which could mean a 2011 print date if all goes well. of course, no plan survives contact with the enemy, and the enemy in this case is lkely to be the dread god Finagle and his prophet Murphy. But so far I have half of the book written up, and my coauthor looks to be able to fill much of what's left with some great ideas. i'm also continuing to refine some of the rougher parts of the book, and add material that has been planned but not written past the rough draft stage yet.

I hope to keep running updates going as i work on the project, especially in regards to the referance images i lke to create when writing. none of the images i've uploaded are going to see print. in fact it is likely that when Palladium's artists get their chance to illustrate the book, what they create will have a very different look than what i have created.
